Monkey See, Monkey do!

March 15th, 2011

Eric spent the night at his Aunt Deborah’s house last weekend.  Mommy and I had our date night.  Eric was very excited when I told him that he was going over to see Aunt Deborah and Uncle Jeff.

Mommy and I dropped him off at Aunt Deborah’s and Uncle Jeff’s house on Saturday afternoon.  He was so excited to be there.  When we picked him up on Sunday afternoon, he was still having a lot of fun.  He was playing cars with Uncle Jeff.  He showed me and Mommy all of the things that he did while he was there.  He showed me his new beach game with Curious George.  He showed us the monkey that Aunt Deborah helped him make.  He played “go fish” with Aunt Deborah and Uncle Jeff.

They took Eric to Pizza King for dinner on Saturday night.  They have a model train that brings drinks right to your table.  Eric is still talking about the train that brought his drink!

Who’s the Boss?

March 6th, 2011

Eric had a doctor’s appointment earlier last week.  The nurse led us to a room and began checking his blood pressure, breathing, etc; the usual stuff.  Eric cooperated very well.  Mommy and I sat in our chairs just as proud as could be.  After a short wait, the doctor came in to examine Eric.  She did a lot of the same checks that the nurse did.  The doctor looked in his ears and nose and he said, “Ahhhh!” while she looked into his mouth.  When she was finished, he asked “Anything else?”  He asked her 2 or 3 times the same question.  We all got a kick out of this.  So cute and so polite!

A few weeks ago, we all went to a baby shower for a friend of ours.  Eric had a great time playing with the other kids at the party.  There was music playing for most of the evening, and Eric took the opportunity to show off his dance moves to everyone.

Today at lunch, Eric was getting a little bossy, so I told him not to boss me around.  I said, “You’re not the boss of me!”  Eric replied with, “I’m not the boss…You are the boss of me.”  I told Mommy that I needed a tape recorder.  That tape could come in handy 10 or 12 years from now 🙂

This little piggy went to the mall…

February 26th, 2011

Mommy, Eric, and I were riding in the car to dinner yesterday, and a fun song came on the radio.  Mommy and I started dancing in our seats.  One of us said, “Let’s dance!”  Eric replied with, “Let’s break it down!”

Nearing bedtime last night, Eric wanted to watch cars on the TV.  We had watched some of the Daytona 500 on TV last weekend.  Eric liked to see the cars going very fast, especially when there was smoke or crashing!  So, last night I started browsing through the channels looking for something that might have cars.  I did not expect to find much, but I did!  I found a NASCAR truck race on TV.  Eric had a lot of fun watching the “cars” go around the track really fast.  He kept cheering, “Go green car!”  “That red car is fast!”  “Go white car, go as fast as you can, you can do it!”

Today, we went to get a haircut for me.  Afterward, Mommy, Eric, and I stopped at a restaurant for lunch.  When the waitress came to our table, she placed two small cocktail napkins on the table for our drinks.  Eric said, “I want a wiper!”, referring to the napkins.  The waitress right away understood his language, so she hurried to go get Eric a napkin, too.  When she returned with a napkin for Eric, he said, “Thank you!”  We ordered some drinks, and asked the waitress to give us a few minutes to decide on our food.  Eric piped up and said, “I’m having pizza!”  I told Eric that I didn’t think they had pizza here, but Mommy corrected me.  They did have pizza on the menu!  We ordered some pizza, and while we were waiting, Eric and I went over by some video games in the corner.  Eric sat behinf the wheel of a race car game and spun the wheel back and forth.  He was having a lot of fun!  He didn’t seem to mind that he was not really playing, but the demo was playing, so he could see cars driving really fast.  After we finished eating our pizza, Mommy and I said, “It’s time to go!”  Eric replied, “Let’s rock and roll!”

Below are a few pictures that Mommy took during the day the last couple weeks while I was at work.

Mommy and Eric met Grandma G. at the mall, and Eric played at the playground…

Eric tried on Mommy’s reading glasses…

Mommy asked me today if I had noticed Eric’s house.  She said that he cleaned it.  I have noticed before that he will straighten a few things and place some toys in a straight line.  I looked inside his house this afternoon, and I was impressed with what I saw.

A place for everything, and everything in its place!

Brrr! These pancakes are tiny!

February 5th, 2011

It’s a winter wonderland!  Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

On top of the 3″ of ice still covering my driveway and sidewalk, on top of already 2″ of snow in the yard, we now have 8″ of fresh heavy snow to top everything.  Eric ventured outside today for a few minutes while I was clearing the snow from the driveway, er, iceway.  Then he was ready to go back in.  Apparently, he thought Mommy was taking him to the store.  He wasn’t prepared for just standing outside or playing in the snow.  So, after just a few minutes in the driveway, Mommy took him back in the house.  I continued clearing the snow from the cars and the driveway.

Earlier this week, we got the ice.  Thursday after I went to work, Mommy decided to try and go to Grandma’s house.  I had forgotten to tell Mommy to not even try, since her little car was iced in pretty good.  I took the bigger car to work, because I did not know what the road conditions would be.  While Mommy was trying to get the car out, Eric waited in his seat.  Mommy tried everything from salt to carpets, but she could not get any traction to drive out of the ruts.  Mommy persisted for quite a while until Eric said, “I just want to go home!”  This comment from Eric finally convinced Mommy to give up, and they went back into the warm house.  That evening, Eric told me the whole story.  He told me how he said, “I just want to go home”.  He repeated this several times to be sure that I understood him.  I praised him and said that he had a great idea.  I also thanked him for taking good care of Mommy.  I was worried that Mommy might have fallen or strained her back or something.  Eric had it all under control.  He described the sound to me, “Rrrr Rrrr Rrrr”, as the wheels just spun in place.  “Rrrr Rrrr Rrrr”  “It was stuck!”

That evening, after Eric went to bed, I went outside to get the small car unstuck.  On Friday, I drove the little car to work, and Mommy and Eric went over to Grandma’s house.  Cousin Tyler was out of school due to the weather, so he and Eric played.  They all went to Monkey Joe’s to play.  This is an indoor playground for kids that has all inflatable slides, bouncing houses, etc.  They had so much fun!  Eric talked all night about it.  When I got home, he told me “We went to Monkey Joe’s!”

Eric also told me about a “pancake stack”.  Apparently this was on one of his shows that he watched during the day.  He kept talking about the “pancake stack”, so I asked him if he wanted me to make him a pancake stack for breakfast tomorrow morning.  He said, “Yes!  Only Mickey’s ears!”  He was referring to the Mickey Mouse pancakes that I always make for him.  I make a big deal about the ears when he is eating, referring to the ears as “ear meat”.  He likes the ears.  So this morning, I made all “ear meat” pancakes for breakfast – really small pancakes.  “Oh how cute!  Silver dollar pancakes!”, Mommy said.  I stacked 3 of these on Eric’s plate.  He was thrilled!  He ate 2 full stacks and half of a 3rd stack.  He loved it!

Groundhog Day!

February 2nd, 2011

February already?!  I doubt that the groundhog will see his shadow today, unless he keeps an ice pick down in his hole.  Our yard (and driveway and sidewalk) is covered in nearly 4 inches of ice!

I never had a chance to blog in January.  I will recap the whole month for you today:  Eric did cute things.  Eric said cute things.  Eric acted very cute.  Eric grew cuter every day.  There.  That sums it up 🙂

I may be short on words today, but plenty of photos below.

Running and playing…

I caught him coming around the corner.  He was surprised!

So happy…

Hmm…this puzzle was hard work.

Eric was really taking to the pool table.  He started playing with it a few weeks ago, just pushing the balls around with his hand.  Cousin Tyler came to visit two weekends ago, and they really had a lot of fun playing together, especially at the pool table.  I showed Tyler how to hold the cue and aim the cue ball.  I also helped Eric hold the cue and make a few shots.  The next few days, Eric did almost nothing except play at the pool table.  He used his step stool to reach the table.  This discovery was very exciting for him.  He played for hours at a time.  Unfortunately, Eric discovered all the fun of the pool table, and grew tall enough to reach it, at just the same time that Mommy and I had decided to sell it.  Last week, a couple guys came over one evening, disassembled it, and took it away.  Eric was very interested in the process of taking it apart.  He kept going in the room to check on the guys’ progress, “Are you okay?”, “How’s it going?”.  We let him stay up late that night until the table was out the door, since he likely would not have slept anyway with all the noise.  After it was gone, we both stood in the middle of the room and looked around.  He really thought the big empty room was kind of cool.  After he went to bed, I moved our dining table into the room.  Mommy tells me that the next morning when he got up, he was very disappointed to see his big empty room had been filled up.  I imagine he had big plans for the empty space, probably involved lots of running! 🙂  Mostly, he did not say anything about the missing pool table, except one comment that next evening about when are going to buy a new one?

Bundled up after a nice warm bath.  A great way to wind down for bed in the evening…

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

January 2nd, 2011

Long time, no blog…

We celebrated Mommy’s birthday on December 11.  Mommy’s birthday was almost a week earlier, but this was the first time that we were able to gather her whole family together to celebrate.  We went over to Grandma and Grandpa G’s house.  We combined the celebration with thanksgiving, since we had not yet gathered together to celebrate Thanksgiving, either.  The whole family was there.  Eric had fun visiting with everyone.  Eric especially enjoyed playing with cousin Tyler.

Christmas is coming!  We decorated the tree after Thanksgiving.  We shopped for gifts for all of our loved ones.  We wrapped the presents in colorful paper, some with bows.  Eric visited Santa at the mall.  When Eric sat on Santa’s lap, he told Santa that he wanted a “red present and a big stick” for Christmas.  That should be easy for Santa!  Eric also reminds everyone that he wants a candy cane!

Christmas Eve!  This year, we spent Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa G’s house.  Mommy made lasagna, and Grandma made spaghetti and meatballs.  We visited, ate dinner, and opened presents.  Eric took a nap after dinner, so we started opening presents without him.  We went slowly, so we would not finish before Eric woke up.  Eric loved opening presents, but he had difficulty moving to the next present.  With each new toy that he opened, he wanted to play with it right then.  He stood and waited for me to open the box, undo all of the packaging, and install the batteries.  This was repeated for every toy.  The first toy was a remote controlled car.  He also got a pillow pet, a story book, candy, and a toy train.  He was very excited for each gift!  We had to get home before bedtime, so Eric could get to sleep before Santa came to town.

…controlling his R/C car.

Christmas morning!  Santa visited our house while we slept.  He delivered lots of new toys for Eric!  Santa was very busy.  He had to rearrange our furniture to make room for Eric’s presents around the Christmas tree in our living room.  Santa must bring lots of elves with him.  He probably uses some of his magic, too.  Santa brought a giant cardboard house for Eric to play in.  He also brought a cycle video game and lots of Chuggington train tracks and chuggers.  Puzzles, books, candy, and pac-man, too.  Eric had so much fun playing with his new toys.  He had some trouble deciding which ones to play.  He went first to the Chuggington track set with the loop.  He played this for quite a while before moving on to the house and the video games.  He was so excited and busy that he forgot to open all of his presents from Santa.  We interrupted him, so we could open our presents from each other.  Mommy and Daddy got him some cool new shirts.  Daddy got Mommy a new camera.  Eric got Mommy a case for her new camera.  Eric got Mommy a new piggy bank, since hers was broken.  Mommy loves to save coins!  Eric also got Mommy a new 2011 spa night coupon calendar.  Just like 2010, this calendar includes 2 coupons for each month that Mommy can redeem for a hot bubbly bath with soothing music and peace and quiet.  Eric and I work hard to make Mommy’s bath night special with music, candles, and a bubble bath.  We also try to be very quiet while Mommy enjoys her bath.  I think this is Mommy’s favorite gift last year and this year.  Mommy got me some clothes and new headlights for my car.  After presents, I made breakfast.  Mommy cooked the bacon, and I made pancakes.  I made the usual Mickey Mouse pancake for Eric, and I made a special snowman pancake for Mommy.  Eric really liked the snowman pancake.

…playing pac-man with Daddy.

Christmas day!  This year, we went to Grandma and Grandpa D’s house for Christmas Day.  After breakfast and the novelty of the toys began to wear down (a little), we packed up the car to go to Grandma and Grandpa D’s house.  We arrived a couple hours before dinner.  We settled in and unpacked the car.  We spread all of our gifts around the Christmas tree.  Eric could hardly wait to play with Grandpa’s trains.  Grandpa had shown the train to Eric on the web-cam a couple weeks earlier.  Eric talked about the train almost every day until Christmas.  He played with the train for a long time.  Eric’s cousin Jake played with him, too.  Eric had so much fun playing with everyone.  All of his aunts and uncles and cousins were there.

After dinner, we all gathered in the family room to open presents.  Eric was Santa’s little helper this year.  His job was to help Grandpa hand out all of the gifts to everyone.  This is a big job, as we have 17 people gathered for the celebration.  Eric worked hard at helping Grandpa.  He repeatedly asked, “Is this one for me?”  He was sometimes disappointed but always continued to help Grandpa.  Eric took several breaks from his work to open a gift for himself.  He got many gifts from everyone: shirts, pants, socks, books, DVDs, games, toys, candy, and more.  He was having so much fun!

…admiring Grandma’s new slippers.

Mommy and I are so proud of Eric!  He behaved so well through all of the Holiday activities despite the missed naps, late nights, changed routines, crowds of people, and all of the other distractions and excitement.  Most of all, we are proud that Eric recognizes that Christmas is Jesus’ birthday!

Happy New Year!  We went to a party at a friend’s house for the New Year celebration.  Eric stayed up until 10pm and then he was down and sleeping within minutes.  He was thoroughly worn out.  He had so much fun playing with the other little kids!  We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing.  Eric and I sat back and watched several DVDs of Veggie Tales.  He loves these new DVDs that he got for Christmas.  He also asks every day if we can “build these?”, referring to his new Lincoln Logs.  This is a new year!  We are grateful for all of the blessings received this past year, and we are looking forward to all of the exciting new adventures ahead of us!

Let us be thankful for Snow!

December 4th, 2010

We spent Thanksgiving at my parents’ house.  Eric always has fun when we visit Grandma and Grandpa D.  Everyone was there this year, except Uncle Jeff who was sick and had to stay home.  We missed him.  We arrived shortly before dinner was served with just enough time to fill up on snacks and hors d’oeurves.  Eric ate almost everything that we asked him to eat.  He has just come out of his “refusing to eat” phase.  He ate mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, pickled beets, and cranberry sauce.  He really liked the cranberry sauce!

Friday morning, we drove home.  Eric napped in the car on the drive up and on the drive back.  Aunt Deborah was riding in the back seat with Eric.  They both took a nap on the way home.  After we settled back into the house, we started decorating for Christmas.  We started by putting up the Christmas tree.  Eric was glad to help.  Eric, Mommy, and I unpacked the Christmas tree and fluffed up the branches one at a time as I snapped them onto the tree.  After the tree was up, it was time for Eric’s nap.  He was so excited about the tree that he did not want to go to sleep.  Once down in his bed, though, he fell asleep shortly.  Mommy and I continued putting out decorations, but we saved the tree for last after Eric got up.  Eric was very helpful.  He put several ornaments on the tree.

Again, I was out of town all week for business.  I returned on Thursday afternoon, so I was home for dinner on Thursday.  Eric missed me, and I missed him.  I was very busy all week, and I was not able to get on the webcam to see Eric and Mommy.  Friday was my vacation…three-day weekend!

Friday morning, I was ready to give Eric a bath before breakfast.  Mommy was fixing French Toast!  I filled the bath with water and bubbles, got Eric undressed, and asked him if he was ready for a bath.  He said, “Okay Daddy, sir!”  I thought this was very amusing.  I wonder where he picked up such a phrase?

Mommy went to visit with a friend on Friday afternoon, so it was just me and Eric for a few hours.  We had just enough time to fix Mommy’s car and get dinner started.  Mommy’s car had a dead battery, so I had gone to the store to buy a new one while Eric was napping.  When I got home, Eric was up, and Mommy was ready to go.  I hurried to get Eric bundled up, so we could go outside to work on the car.  It would be getting dark soon, and snow was expected on Saturday, so I really wanted to get this done today.  Eric was very helpful, he held all of my tools for me while I worked.  I lifted the old battery out, and as I lifted the new battery, I commented that it was heavy.  Eric said, “Is that heavy for you, Daddy?”  I replied, “Yes, very heavy.”  Eric reassured me by saying, “You’re a strong boy!”

This morning, we woke up with at least 2 inches of snow on the ground.  Mommy and Eric were up first, but I soon followed.  Mommy mentioned that Eric was already talking about building a snowman.  We ate breakfast, and I bundled up to go clear the snow from the sidewalk and driveway.  It was still snowing, but I thought it a good idea to stay ahead of it.  As it turns out, it did keep snowing, but the daytime temperatures were just warm enough to keep it from accumulating any more on the concrete.  When I finished clearing the snow, I made a quick little snowman and set it on the front porch.  It is probably no more than 12″ tall.  I found a cup in the garage for a hat, broke some chalk into pieces for the face, poked a small twig into each side for arms, and found an old rag to use as a scarf.  When I went into the house, I called Eric to the front door to see the snowman that was on our front porch.  He came to the door and looked.  He was very excited and asked, “Did you make that Daddy?”  When I answered that I had, he said, “I want to make one!”  I was not ready to go back out just yet, and he was not dressed, so I promised him that we would go outside to build another snowman later.

After a while, Mommy suggested that we had better go outside soon to build our snowman, because we had to take Eric over to Grandma and Grandpa G’s house to spend the night.  Eric’s cousin Tyler would also be spending the night.  So, we began the process of bundling Eric for play outside.  Mommy insisted on snowpants, coat, hat, mittens, and plastic bags inside his shoes.  The poor kid could barely move with all that stuff on, but he was guaranteed not to get cold!  bundled up, we went outside.  Eric ran around through the snow and played.  I started building another snowman, this one a little larger than the first.  There still was not enought snow to consider anything near life size.  Eric showed a little interest as we started, but soon wandered off to walk through the yard.  I finished the second snowman and this time, we had brought a cup from in the house for a hat.  I found another scrap of a rage to use for a scarf, some small stones to use for eyes, and twigs for a nose and his arms.  I thought the snowman looked pretty good.  Eric really liked it!  I moved the first snowman from the porch down into the yard next to the second snowman.

Back Home Again!

November 23rd, 2010

After boys’ weekend, I had to go out of town for business.  I came back late Friday night.  I was tired, so I slept in a little on Saturday morning.  Mommy and Eric were already up, and Mommy had started cooking some bacon.  Mommy came in to the bedroom to wake me up.  “The bacon is ready, and we are hungry.”  I got the hint.  It was time to get up and make pancakes for breakfast.  When I came out to the living room, Eric was very excited to see me!  He jumped up and gave me a big hug!  I was just as excited to see him, and I returned the hug!

On Sunday, I moved the cars out of the garage, so I could get into the attic for our Christmas decorations.  Eric helped me clean out the car.  Later, after all of the boxes were out of the attic, Eric wanted to see inside the attic.  I helped Eric climb the ladder to get a look.  He thought everything up there was so cool!

Tonight, I took Eric to his room for bed time.  Our usual routine is for Eric to pick a book from his shelf, and we read it to each other.  Sometimes I read the book, and sometimes Eric wants to read the book.  We take turns.  When we finish the book, we sing lullabies to each other.  Tonight, I sang “Mary Had a Little Lamb”.  Eric almost always chooses the songs.  Once in a while, I get to sing any song that I want, but mostly Eric picks the songs.  After I finished singing, Eric said that he wanted to sing me a lullaby.  I lay my head down while he sang to me.  He sang three full verses of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” to me.  The song has four verses that we sing together.  Eric sang three of them all by himself.  He has such a good memory for songs.  He is always singing songs that we did not realize he remembered.  Sometimes he will start singing a song from a TV show that he has not watched for several weeks.

Boys’ Weekend 2010

November 13th, 2010

Mommy left for Girls’ weekend yesterday.  It is just Eric and me all weekend.  Just doing guy stuff!

Friday, we played all afternoon.  Lots of fun!  I made pizza for dinner, and we had a picnic in the living room.  We spread a blanket on the floor, poured our drinks, and set our plates full of pizza on the floor.  Unfortunately, all the excitement of the picnic did not convince Eric to eat his dinner.  He tried to take a first bite, but the pizza was still a little too warm.  That was the end of dinner for Eric.

Eric has not been eating much recently.  He refuses his favorite foods: oatmeal, soup, pizza, spaghetti and meatballs.  He will only eat bananas and “snacks”.  Mommy and I have decided to cut back his juice intake until he starts eating again.  He has been drinking cup after cup of juice every day.  We believe this may be discouraging him from eating.

After dinner, we watched some more TV until 8pm, then the TV was off.  We played with cars in our pajamas until 8:30pm and then headed for bed.  We read a couple books and then lights out.  Eric went right to sleep.  What a fun day we had!  Just the two of us!  It is good to have exclusive one-on-one time with Eric, although we do miss Mommy.

This morning, I made pancakes and bacon for breakfast.  Eric certainly made up for yesterday.  He ate “Mickey”, “Minny”, and another unidentified (round) pancake plus 2 slices of bacon.  He was asking for more, but I did not want to spoil his appetite for lunch or dinner later on.  Mommy had scheduled Eric’s final make-up for Music Class today.  After breakfast, we cleaned up, got Eric dressed, and out the door to Music Class.  We were running a little late, so we had to hurry.  Eric was very cooperative.

We arrived to Music Class just as Miss Jenny was finishing the opening song.  We crept in quietly and found a seat in the circle.  Eric did very well in class today.  He was well behaved and participated in the songs and activities.

We spent a couple hours at home watching TV, then I asked Eric if he wanted to help me with a project.  He got very excited and said, “YES!”  So, I explained to him that we can’t start a project without a clipboard.  We went into the office and retrieved our clipboards.  I with pencil and Eric with crayon.  We went back to the family room.  Our project was to finish the trim work in the family room.  We would start by framing the fireplace.  Eric got started right away drawing on his clipboard.  I got started removing a temporary base board to be used around the fireplace.  Eric ran over to help me, so I put him to work.  He held the small pry bar, while I eased the board from the wall using the larger pry bar.  He did a really good job!  Next, we needed some measurements from around the fireplace.  Eric already knows how to operate the tape measure, so I asked him to help.  We measured the width and height of the fireplace and noted the numbers on my clipboard.  We headed out to the shed, where I had an extra base board stored in the rafters.  I got this down, and Eric helped me measure its length…”8 feet”.  It was starting to rain, so we hurried back into the house with the newly retrieved building materials.

Our next step in the project involved a trip to Menards for more materials and some paint.  I asked Eric to get his clipboard, so we could make a list.  I added several items to the list, and I put eric in charge of “the list”.  He took this reponsibility very seriously.  We got shoes and jackets on, and out the door to the store.  Eric kept drawing on our list all the way to the store and while we walked around the store.  Since “the list” included some additional 8-foot boards, we could not take the Lincoln.  As with any other time that I need to bring home long pieces of lumber, I needed to use my sport utility vehicle, my Camaro.  Very sporty and it has a hatchback, which makes it very easy to load long pieces of lumber.  Eric was especially excited about our project now.  This is the second time that he got to ride in “Daddy’s purple car”.  With “the list” complete and the car loaded, we were going home to finish the project.

Eric and I unlaoded the car and went in the house.  We verified some measurements and went back out to the garage to cut some lumber.  Eric stood in the far corner of the garage while I did the cutting.  It was loud, so I told him to cover his ears with his hands.  He was really enjoying helping me with this project!  After the cutting was finished, Eric started to lose interest in the project.  I could tell he was getting tired.  He had not had a nap yet and it was 4pm.  We settled in the living room and played with his toys for a while.  Then we read some books and lights out for a nap.  Eric was asleep almost immediately after the lights were out.

I did some painting while he slept.  I cleaned up my mess, and I woke him up around 5:30pm.  I had planned to take Eric to Chuck E. Cheese’s for dinner.  He woke up and I asked him if he wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese’s.  He said, “YES! YES!  Let’s go to Chuck E. Cheese’s!”  We got dressed and left for Chuck’s.  The whole time we were getting ready, Eric kept saying, “Come on Daddy.  Let’s go to Chuck E. Cheese’s!”  We got to Chuck’s and ordered our pizza.  Now we were stuck sitting at a table for our pizza.  Eric had not stopped talking about “pepper oni” all the way in the car and the whole time we stood in line, and he reminded me again while I was ordering and continued talking about his “pepper oni” while we waited for the pizza.  He is still learning patience, so he has difficulty understanding that we have to wait for our food to be prepared.  Add to that the additional time waiting for the pizza to cool off before he can eat it.  I can see this is very frustrating for him.  He wants it now!  The pizza finally cooled enough, but he refused to eat.  I was at a loss, since he had not stopped talking about his “pepper oni pizza”.  Since he did not eat any dinner, I told him that he could play only one game before we went home.  Eric had been here with Mommy and his cousin Tyler several times.  He led me right to his favorite game.  When we got there, it was broken.  I explained this to Eric and he just started crying.  So far, nothing about this trip was going as I had imagined it would.  I calmed him, and he stopped crying.  We walked around looking for another game to play.  He pointed to another game and said, “Let’s play this one.”  I agreed.  It was a game that dropped the token onto a revolving turntable covered randomly with “baskets”.  The object is to drop the token into any one of the baskets to earn points and thus get tickets.  Eric and I dropped all 50 of our tokens into the game.  We earned almost 200 tickets.  Eric traded his tickets for a purple rubber ball.

At home, Eric was wiped out and definitely ready for bed.  Lights out and Eric was fast asleep.

A Star is Born!

November 9th, 2010

Mommy and I were cleaning this past weekend, and I found the microphone that originally came with Eric’s musical keyboard.  I remember putting it up, because he was too little for it at the time.  I plugged it in and Eric and I played and sang songs for quite a time tonight.  Here are links to a coupe videos that Mommy took of us.

“Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”

“A, B, C, D,…”
